Operation Mapotas

Thursday 15:00 (T-3 days), @Loki6969 has a blinding flash of brilliance that we can make a shiggles field while on holiday in Tasmania from Tassie, to KI to Whyalla. There were a number of rural blocks in place that would require considerable travel, some blue some green so he was going to need some help.

All anchors were either green or grey which was a good start.

We quickly gathered a team of volunteer link breakers and put @dakirk on high alert.

A call was put out for people travelling from Melbourne back to SA. @corgihunter heroically said he could sort the Melbourne route and @iamboert agreed to do the valiant drive out to Balaklava in search of more sheep. Without @corgihunter offering this op was dead in the water.

The target was set for the 19:30 Saturday checkpoint.

Friday 10:30 T-1 day, @MagnetWire mentions he’s currently on his way over from Melbourne at Ballarat. An elaborate plan of highway smurf smashing is developed and a simple link back field is planned.

21:30 Keith link is dropped by @MagnetWire, after a chat with a cop…using up a large proportion of his remaining 30 XMPs!

23:30 a 350km lane block goes in from Commandook to Ararat, @MagnetWire’s final valiant contribution.

11:30 T-8 hours, the team assembles.

12:30 Nat Thomas is noted to be blue! Killed by 2 smurfs on the island, @vitax and @Llamaspit.

Meanwhile, a new link from Port Fairy to Peterborough (Vic) had gone up that blocked us. We called out to Vic for a breaker.

@Washingtonnavel and @Diplodocus23 claim the hills (practically the whole area!!!) blocks, @Pol42 and @BobTheFurry head on the ingress route to Mount Compass via Murray Bridge, @mukkie puts his hand up for the green fields of Evanston and Roseworthy and @iamboert is already sheep hunting on his way to Balaklava.

14:30@mallacai and @goingfision happen to be on the island and are contacted. They agree to rescue us and jarvis our KI anchor back. This leaves a single jarvised portal in the middle of a bunch of blue portals. Luckily no one that could do anything about it noticed!

16:20 Murray Bridge links are cleared and @Pol42 and @BobTheFurry head to Mount Compass for an ice cream, and a cow.

16:30 The Vics come back telling us they can’t get to the Port Fairy link in time, panic sets in and @Loki6969 suggests an alternative portal (a lighthouse). The changed angle threads the needle perfectly, it is unknown how accessible the lighthouse is…

16:45 @iamboert clears the Balaklava block, and heads to find more blue (or more sheep) at Halbury for shiggles, then heads to Roseworthy to build a lane blocker.

17:10 @Loki6969 announces his driver is 45 mins late. CP is under threat!

17:45 @Loki6969 is an hour commute from the portal and there are still no wheels!

18:00 @candelocedife links from Birdwood to Tanunda for shiggles. This blocks us and no-one is near. @Nightshade13 and @shimjb try to contact him. No immediate joy. @Washingtonnavel picks up @ArctixFoxx, abandons all hope of a life outside ingress, and they head for the hills. Meanwhile our Barossa team are desperately badgered to take out either portal.

18:30 @loki6969 leaves for the portal. 1hr to checkpoint, 1 hour’s commute according to google, including a dirt road to navigate that may or may not have gates…or just may be completely inaccessible.

19:00 @bructus makes contact, agrees to sacrifice the cricket for big green things.

19:10 the emergency Birdwood crew heads back to life.

19:21 @Loki6969 flips the anchor and begins knocking off the mods.

19:23 @Loki6969 captures and mods the Tassie anchor.

19:25 @dakirk throws the base to KI, @Loki6969 announces he can’t link. @mukkie and @Pol42 take out the final blocks.

19:26 the field is completed and makes checkpoint! 854k MU.

19:30 Checkpoint and @vitax and @Llamaspit board the ferry back to the mainland.

19:31 @iamboert arrives at Roseworthy to throw the lane block!

All in all, a really smooth op for a short notice shiggle type of idea. Well done team.
